A Brief Overview of Greenthumb School
Greenthumb School began in 2016 in Travelers Rest, South Carolina as a children’s summer camp and grew into a full-day program. In 2024, it was established as a school focused on partnering with families to provide a balance of classical education and practical life skills.
We now follow the Memoria Press Classical Latin curriculum, helping students grow in wisdom, virtue, and a love of learning. Classes are held on Mondays (full day) and Thursdays (half day), where students practice joyful work, courage, and hospitality.
Beyond academics, students engage in hands-on activities like cooking and gardening, building confidence, responsibility, and curiosity. Each day includes a shared meal prepared by Upcountry Provisions, fostering community.
As the home of the Chick-a-Bees, our mascot Chick-a-Bee represents resilience, joy, and a spirit of wonder. Guided by Beauty, Order, and Joy, our green and orange colors reflect growth, warmth, and vitality.
